The role of parents is often neglected once a young person moves on from school to a Sixth Form College. It is thought by some parents and carers, that a college, unlike a school, does not regard the relationship with parents as important in taking students through the post 16 stage of their learning. This is not true of Rochdale Sixth Form College.
Top class institutions work with parents to make sure that their son/daughter is on track to succeed. We feel that we are not only accountable to the student for the quality of what we do, but also to parents and carers. More importantly, we recognise that you, as parents, have a vital role to play in supporting your son/daughter to success in their studies. Regular reports and parents’ evenings will provide direct communication on the progress of your son/daughter, along with their Personal Progress Tutor who will provide a direct link to the College.
- Sending a “Welcome and Starter Pack” to parents, containing key contacts, dates of events and a copy of your son/daughter’s timetable
- Holding Parents’ Evenings
- Providing a Parents’ Newsletter each term
- Holding planning events to support progression to university.
