Why do Applied Science?
Do you love practical science activities? Do you work best with more portfolio work rather than formal written examinations? If you enjoy all three sciences – particularly Biology and Chemistry – and can’t decide which one to do at college, this might be the subject for you. This new and exciting course focuses on the practical applications of science and not as much on the theories of the more traditional single subjects. The course can be taken as one or two A-Levels.

You will be taught in state-of-the-art laboratories and have access to the most up-to-date technology and equipment. In addition, we will visit various science workplaces to develop your understanding of how science is put into practice. You will have the opportunity for lots of fieldwork and practical activities and will benefit from the expertise of guest speakers and workshops/conferences.
What can I do with Applied Science after college?
Applied Science goes well with a lot of the other AS Subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Business and Health/Social Care. It is a useful qualification for many university courses.
What do I need to do Applied Science?
You will need to meet the normal college entry criteria for AS/ A2 courses. In addition, you will need a Grade C or above in GCSE Maths and Science.
