Your Programme of Study

RSFC offers a wide variety of A Level courses, ranging from the traditional subjects to courses not normally available in Secondary School. In addition we offer a number of vocational or applied A Levels in a range of subjects. We have over 30 courses on offer and you have the flexibility to combine almost any subjects.

Your two-year programme of study will be as follows:

Programme of Study

* All students will study four AS levels in the first year or 3 AS levels and a GCSE resit in Maths if required. You will also get the opportunity to develop your communication, number, ICT and wider key skills in Year 13 via the COPE (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness) course.

All A Level courses are divided into two parts. In the first year you will study two units of a subject leading to an AS level qualification. In the second year, you take a further two units at A2 in the same subject to achieve a full A Level. Because A Level courses are broken down into units in this way, you will take exams contributing towards your final grade throughout the course, rather than only at the end.

What Subjects Should I Choose?

Choosing subjects to study at Sixth Form is both exciting and demanding. RSFC is a specialist A Level college and is committed to ensuring all students start on the course that is right for them. We place great emphasis on precourse guidance to ensure that your A Level choices are appropriate and match your aspirations.

Our initial advice is:

  • Choose subjects you enjoy
  • Choose subjects you are good at
  • Make sure you think about the subjects you might need to study for future careers
