Why do Applied ICT?
Applied ICT is a more practical based qualification than the traditional A Level in ICT, with most of the assessment being based on a coursework portfolio. It is a highly exciting qualification that develops the knowledge and skills needed to become a competent ICT user. The course helps students develop project management, organisational, creative and technical ICT skills, using a range of software currently used in commerce and industry. Students build up a portfolio of assignments that are based around practical projects using different types of software. Most assignments are an individual effort but there are some group assignments. There will also be opportunities for some work experience throughout the course.
What will I study?
You will study a range of topics, including units such as information age, the digital economy, the knowledge worker, managing ICT projects, using database software and using spreadsheet software.

All students of ICT will work in cutting edge ICT suites, equipped with the latest technology and facilities. In addition, there will be enrichment classes in computing and computer games for you to take part in.
What can I do with Applied ICT after college?
This course is designed for students who are interested in working in business/ICT areas such as economics, finance, sales and marketing, human resources etc. It also combines well with many subjects including business, economics and media studies.
What do I need to do Applied ICT?
You will need to meet the normal college entry criteria for AS/A2 courses.
